Portia Elaine McCray, 60, of Florence, SC died on  Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Mcleod Regional Medical Center. She was born on May, 21, 1963 in Florence, SC to late Elijah and Ernestine McCray.

She graduated from Timmonsville High School class of  1980. She graduated a year earlier. She was a person who loved to write and do poems. Portia was a free spirit and loved helping. She was an amazing grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandkids and cooking certain meals. To know her  was to love her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Elijah McCray and two brothers, Bobby and Patterson McCray. 

Portia leaves to cherish her memories: four children Tiffany (Robert) Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Vanity (Warren) Timmons of Florence, SC, Marcus McCray of Atlanta, GA, and Akeem McCray of Florence, SC; seven grandchildren: Jakobe, Jasmine, and Jade Manning, Jordan and Robert Johnson, and Jocelynn  and Journee Timmons; her mother Ernestine McCray; three brothers Areese (Sylvia) Myers, Elijah McCray Jr, and Shawn McCray; two sisters Veronica Rogers and Latease McCray; one god daughter Cassandra Lyde; one special sister Gladys Hamlin; special friends        Venus Tisdale, Slyvia Young and Angela Solomon-Williams; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.
