Reverend Davie Brown Obituary

On January 16, 1956, Davie was born to the late Ezekiel, Sr. and Queen Ester Eaddy Brown. Affectionately known by family and friends as “Billy,” Davie was the seventh child of thirteen.          Biblically, the number seven represents spiritual completion and after accepting Christ while in the United States Air Force, he received the call to preach God’s Word. After answering the call and studying to show himself approved, Davie taught, preached, and lived the Word of God until his demise.

At an early age, Davie joined Greater Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Claussen, SC and sang on the Junior choir. He attended Willow Creek Elementary School, Wilson Junior High School, and Southside High School where he graduated in 1974.  Davie had a love of basketball; played while in school, during military service and every opportunity he had. His passion for basketball, would make you run out of a room, when he yelled for his favorite teams.

In 1976, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and after four years of active duty ranked as an E6. Davie worked for ESAB until retirement.

In 1989, he was joined in Holy matrimony to the love of his life for 33 years, Lisa Willis. Together they reared three beautiful children, Brandon L.C., Billy J., and Briana A.

Jeremiah 1:5 tells of his ministry which started in 1978. It reads, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the  nations.”  From Davie’s first to his final appointment, he preached the Word of God in Spirit and in truth. Appointments in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church include Mount Sinai (Lynchburg, SC), Mount Pleasant (Lynchburg, SC), Big Bethel (Sumter, SC), and Magnolia Stateline (Hamer, SC).

Davie lived one of his favorite quotes, “Let my life speak for me,” as he dedicated himself to God, his wife, children, grandchildren, extended and church families, friends and all he encountered.

Along with his parents, Davie was preceded in death by two  brothers, Ezekiel Brown Jr, and Joel Kendrick; two sisters, Maelean Myers and Rose Marie Brown.

Left to cherish his legacy are his loving, devoted wife, Lisa, his  beloved three children, Brandon L.C. Willis-Brown, Billy J. (Charlene) Brown, and Briana A. Brown; two precious          grandchildren, Brielle N. Brown and Kyng E. L. Brown; mother-in-law, Bobbie W. Timmons; eight siblings, Margie B.   Durant, Diann B. Brown, Mack E. Brown, Sara A. Brown-Collins, Cynthia A. Brown, Joseph Brown and Michael C. Brown and Faith Brown; two aunts, Mary Brown and Betty Eaddy; seven brothers-in-law: Eddie (Sandra) Willis, Willie Willis, Craig (Stephanie) Willis, Mark Timmons, Rodney (Narcissa) Timmons, Jody Timmons; six sisters-in-law: Minister Verneda D. Brown, Brenda Moody, Willie Mae Cain, Virginia (Tim) Miller, Deloris (Evant) Burgess, Jackie Timmons; two best friends: Warren Donolds and Bishop John H. (Sidney) Ryals; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended church families.
