A Journey Home Begins…….“Fear not, for I have redeemed you by name; you are mine.”
Ruby Gamble Edwards was born on October 25, 1939 in Lake City, SC to Reuben Gamble and Alice McKenzie Gamble. Ruby was a faithful servant of the Lord for many years. The Lord allowed Ruby to be a jewel in many lives. She had an infectious smile, a wonderful sense of humor and a heart of gold. On August 4, 2024, the Lord called Ruby back home ending her earthly journey.
She attended the public Schools of Lake City SC.
Many years ago she accepted Jesus as her personal savior and never allowed worldly troubles to shake her faith. She called Paterson, NJ her home for many years before relocating to Florence, SC. Wherever Ruby called home, she made sure she had a home church, from her youth she and her family were members of St. John United Methodist Church, Lake City SC, when she lived in Paterson, NJ she attended Christian Fellowship Center, after moving to Florence, SC she attended Majority Baptist Church and her last church affiliations was Abundant Faith Fellowship.
Ruby was always a worker in the church in various capacities; such as head usher, deaconess, choir member, kitchen staff, one of the church mothers and many other ministries. Her work history consisted of child caregiver, industry worker, partner with her husband as a landlord, and owner of a laundromat.
She was preceded in death by husband Arnold Lee Edwards, son Derrick Edwards, parents Reuben and Alice Gamble, seven siblings Vera McCutcheon, Matthew Gamble, Mary Cooper, Raymond Gamble, Eva Singletary, Bernice Singletary and Phillip Gamble.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory grandchildren Dequan Edwards of Columbia, SC, Shanice Hutchinson, Qua’shemia Edwards and Qua’deja Edwards all of Florence, SC; six great grandchildren; sister Mrs. Drucilla Brown of Paterson, NJ; daughter-in-law Irish R. Edwards; one of many devoted nieces Carolyn Graham, god daughter Vanessa (Ricky) Bethea; god son Johnny Scipio; two of many special friends Virginia Snowden and Elsie McFadden; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, many others she loved as children, grandchildren, great grands and other relatives.
