Sarah Nadine McWhite, born on November 10, 1926, in Johnsonville, SC, to the late Essie Eaddy and Robert Thompson, peacefully passed away on October 3, 2023, at the age of 96.
She was the beloved wife of the late Calvester McWhite, whom she married on January 3, 1941. Together, they moved to Hazlewood, Pennsylvania, where they raised their seven children.
Sarah was a devoted mother to her children: Calvester McWhite, Jr. (deceased), Genevieve Lane, Vernice (Edward) Collins, Edward Robert Jean McWhite (deceased), Larry McWhite, Kevin McWhite, and Keith McWhite. She was also a loving grandmother to 26 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Sarah's faith was an integral part of her life. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a long-time member of Triston Methodist Church in Pittsburgh, PA. Her strong belief in God guided her actions and brought her comfort throughout her life.
Sarah was a remarkable entrepreneur. She began her journey by selling dinners to the community. Her determination and hard work led her to own two successful dry cleaners, one in Penn Hills, PA, and another in Braddock, PA. She later ventured into the daycare industry, providing a nurturing environment for children. Her final business endeavor was a thriving senior personal care home, where she provided care to the elderly.
In addition to her immediate family, Sarah is survived by her brother-in-law, John George McWhite; two sisters-in-law, Doris McWhite and Janice McWhite. She also leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Sarah Nadine McWhite will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her unwavering love, entrepreneurial spirit, and dedication to her family and community. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
