Sharon Elizabeth White was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 19,1962, to the late Troy L. and Geneva E White. Sharon was the sixth of nine children. She departed this life, after a brief battle with cancer, on July 7, 2025 at MUSC in Florence, SC.

She attended P.S. 158K, JHS 302, Franklin K. Lane High School, and Medgar Evers College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree.  

Sharon explored many career paths: NYC Child Support Case Manager, Store manager, Afterschool Program Director, Home Health Aide, Elderly Caregiver, Substitute Teacher and Para Professional for special needs children. 

Sharon has three sons Jamaal Grant, Simba Brian Mills and Quamik Mills.

Because she always wanted a daughter, God blessed her with beautiful granddaughters Jayla Mills (Ladybug), Javaani Grant (Bumblebee), Taleia Mills (Butterfly), Armanii, Timyah and a great      granddaughter Jenova Grant. She holds a special relationship with each of her grandchildren’s mothers.

Being the nurturing person that she was, Sharon welcomed many other children she met and unofficially adopted them as her daughters, sons and grandchildren.

Sharon married Ricky Reaves May 3, 2008 in Florida. They are members of The Buffalo Soldiers. Sharon was affectionately known as Chocolate Chip. She enjoyed riding down the highway on the back of Ricky's motorcycle.

Sharon loved the Lord and spoke her mind. One thing about her that everyone remembers and will miss is her HUGS! If you were the recipient of one of her hugs, you KNEW it came from the heart. It was the tightest and warmest embrace that would soothe anyone's soul.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Troy Sr & Geneva, siblings Lorene, Theresa, James and Alvin, nephews Amir Hall, Michael James White, Ernest W. White III and niece Tyiger White.

Sharon leaves to cherish her memory her husband Ricky Reaves; sons Jamaal C. Grant, Simba Brian Mills and Quamik T. Mills (Courtney); grandchildren Jayla Mills, Javaani Grant and Taleia Mills and one great granddaughter Jenova Grant; sibling Troy L. White Jr., Robert L. White, Ernest W. White (Lolita) and Darlene White; aunts Mary Paupaw, Barbara Thompson, Bertha Wright and Patricia Rankins; goddaughter Kriestenia Howard Bell and her children Antwane Nunn Jr, Yanique Thimot and Zayden Thimot; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
