Stately Brockington Obituary
Stately Evans Brockington, Jr. was born on August 23, 1977, in Oceanside, California, to Stately Evans Brockington, Sr. and Sharon Kay Swaringer. He entered their lives as a cherished blessing following the passing of their beloved daughter, Evonda Sheranique Brockington—who lovingly welcomed him home on Friday, April 3, 2026, when God called his name.
Affectionately known as BJ, he was a sweet, loving, and kind gentle giant whose presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew him. As a military child, BJ traveled and lived around the world, shaping his warm spirit and open-hearted nature. He graduated from Battery Creek High School in Beaufort, SC, Class of 1995, where he proudly served as a Varsity Cheerleader and played on the soccer team. He later attended the Technical College of the Lowcountry in Beaufort, SC.
BJ had a deep passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles and was a proud owner of one. He loved animals, music, and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He was employed as a sales associate with Advance Auto in Florence, SC.
His spiritual foundation was nurtured under the leadership of his maternal grandparents, Bishop Lloyd E. Swaringer, Sr. and Mother Susanna J. Swaringer, and his paternal grandmother, Mother Mary L. Bell, all of whom preceded him in death. BJ was a member of the Greater Gethsemane Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ Junior Choir and shared countless cherished childhood memories with his cousins, whom he considered brothers and sisters. His contagious smile, joyful personality, and deep love for family made him a true blessing to everyone who shared life with him.
BJ was also preceded in death by his uncles, Lloyd E. Swaringer, Jr., Dennis Swaringer, and James Hart; his aunt, Lourena Bell; and his bonus mother, Denise Herrera.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his children, Janay Brockington of Sylvania, GA, Trinity Brockington of Guyton, GA, Jordan (Kaila) Brockington of Pooler, GA, and Jace Brockington of Beaufort, SC; granddaughters, Jazlyn Smart of Sylvania, GA, and Brielle Brockington of Pooler, GA; his loving parents, Stately Brockington, Sr. and Sharon Swaringer; his brother, Jamar Brockington of Groton, CT; his niece, Zoe’ Brockington; and his bonus son, Jimmy Jarrell.
