Teresa Hudson Obituary

We honor the life and legacy of Teresa Taylor Hudson, who transitioned into eternal rest on March 22, 2025. Born on November 30, 1962, in Hartsville, SC, she was the beloved daughter of the late Sammie Taylor Jr. and Channie Peterson Taylor.

Teresa was a pillar of faith, strength, and love, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, mentor, a listening ear, a special auntie, and servant of God. She touched countless lives through her personal testimonials, unwavering faith, profound wisdom, immense strength, and boundless compassion.

A Life of Dedication and Service

Teresa was educated in the Darlington County Public School System, graduating from Butler High School in 1980. She later earned multiple degrees and certifications with an emphasis on early childhood education and public services. With a heart for children and families, she founded the Teresa’s In-Home  Daycare. Through her daycare, she provided a nurturing, faith-filled environment where she shaped the lives of countless young children and gave working families peace of mind.

A Woman of Faith and Evangelism

Teresa’s life was a testimony of faith and devotion to God. She gave her life to Christ at a later age and became a faithful member of Salvation Temple Apostolic Church. Following the passing of the Elder District George McElveen and First Lady Sarah McElveen. She continued her spiritual journey at Christ Cathedral Ministries in Hartsville, South Carolina, under the leadership of Pastor Christopher Morgan and Lady Rochelle Morgan. Her passion for ministry extended beyond the walls of the church. Under the leadership of her niece and nephew, Evangelists Debra and Fred Jackson, she served as a dedicated disciple and minister-elect of Fervent Prayer Street Outreach Ministries, where she ministered throughout Darlington County, spreading the gospel and bringing hope to those in need. She lived by one of her favorite scriptures: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17. Teresa believed deeply in the power of forgiveness and often reminded those close to her that forgiveness was a process, one that she had to learn and achieve through the gift of salvation. One of her most heartfelt prayers was that her entire family would have true repentance toward God and receive   Jesus Christ as their Savior, and baptized in His name, so they could see her again in eternity.

A Devoted Wife, Mother, and Matriarch

Teresa was a faithful and loving wife to Honorable Veteran Alonza Hudson, who both fulfilled their dreams through prayer and accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and  Savior. She often spoke about her children with deep pride and affection, giving each of them humorous nicknames and celebrating their accomplishments. She was proud of Najia, recognizing him as a successful businessman, devoted husband to Hilary, and a loving father to their children and grandchild. She celebrated Teonna’s journey into motherhood, watching her step into this new role with grace. She admired Terekas, acknowledging him as the family’s little rock, a foundation of    stability and strength as he pursued his career as an engineer. She was proud of Channie, her strong-willed and independent daughter, whose confidence and resilience reminded Teresa of herself. She was also proud of Allontate, knowing he had completed college as successful young man. She was very proud how Allontate started at a young age with wrestling and receiving many awards and achievements throughout his career. Above all, she found comfort in knowing that all of her children had completed college, are successful, knowing God, and able to stand on their own.

 Faith, Family, and Fellowship

Teresa’s heart was filled with love for faith, family, and fellowship. She had a special joy in receiving seasonal sweet potatoes from her brother, Penny, a simple but cherished tradition. She found joy in socializing with family and friends, visiting with Mae Anderson out of town and always sharing laughter, wisdom, and encouragement.

A Legacy of Love

Teresa is survived by her loving husband, Alonza Hudson, and their devoted children Najia (Hilary) Taylor, Teonna Taylor, Terekas (Danyelle Davis) Taylor, Channie Taylor, Allontate Ellerbe; she was blessed with grandchildren Nyla Taylor, Aneya Taylor, Chase Taylor, Aija Taylor, Jordan Taylor, Aviana Taylor, Alexis McCoy, Kelsye Hunter, and great-grandchild, Zachari McCoy; siblings: Levern (Delores) Taylor, Sammie (Neglorise) Taylor, Benny (Lorine) Taylor, Helena T. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Sammie Taylor Jr. and Channie Peterson Taylor, as well as her beloved sister, Jannie Ellerbe, brother, Ronnie Lee Taylor, brother-n-law Willie Brown and her niece, Marisha Taylor.

Her legacy of faith, strength, and love will live on in the lives she touched, the lessons she imparted, and the love she so freely gave. As she entered into eternal rest, we rejoice in the knowledge that she has received her crown of righteousness and has heard the words: “Well done, good and faithful servant!” Though her presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will forever remain in our hearts. May we all continue her legacy of love, service, and unwavering faith.
