Willie Boone

Willie Boone, Jr., was born on February 24, 1941, to the late Mingo Boone and Carriebell (Washington) in Elliot, SC. He made his transition from mortality to  immortality on   Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

He accepted Christ and was baptized in Jesus Name at Mt. Sinai Holiness Church,  Florence, SC under the leadership of Bishop McFadden. Willie was a faithful member of St. Paul Methodist Church, of Elliot, SC for many years until his health failed. He was a member of the choir and the Men’s Club at the church.

Willie was educated at Mt. Pleasant High School, where he participated in sports, baseball, and football. He graduated in 1964. Willie was employed at McCown & Smith Furniture Store and Furniture Mart where he was always the #1 salesman. He retired from SCDOT.

He was the President of the He Man Savings Club, The Motorcycle Association, Morning Light Lodge #430, and The Modeling Club. He cooked and fed the hungry, drove people to vote annually, and he cared for, visited and sat with the sick. He was also an active member of the Rocket Flyer Baseball Team. Willie was known for his good deeds, acts of kindness, towards the community, where he NEVER met a stranger. He was affectionately known to many as “Smiling Willie Boone” and Big Daddy King. But most of all, he was known as the Patriarch of his wife, children, grand & great grandchildren, his siblings and siblings-n-love.

Willie was preceded in death by, his parents, siblings, Irene Wilson, Pepsi Harriot, Mary Blanche Wilson, Rosa Mae  Boone-Wells, and Mingo “Tom” Boone, Jr., parents-in-love James and Alice Rogers, siblings-in-love, James Rogers, Jr., Isaac Rogers, Lucy Mae Gregg, John Rogers, Martha Jones and George Rogers, son-in-love Tonry Heaggins and grandson Tonry “TL” Heaggins, II.

Willie was married and devoted to Anna J. (Rogers), as he affectionately called her, for 58 ½ years. To this union are children, Kenneth (Debbre) Robinson, of Loris, SC, Janet Boone-Heaggins, Charlotte, NC, Tammy (Durand) Williams Darlington, SC; grandchildren Kenneth Boone, Charlotte, NC, April Robinson, Loris, SC, Alicia  (Rev. Byron) Dixon, Columbia, SC, Pvt. Kenneth Edward (Meagan) Robinson, USA Army, Kendrick Boone, Charlotte, NC, DeVonte Jones, Daisha (DeMarcus) Graham, of the home, Crystal Heaggins, Tiera Heaggins and Quintin (Ebony) Rankin of Salisbury, NC;  great-grandchildren, Zakyiah Rankin, Ja’Nyla McCullough, Tylin Green, Kallie Robinson and Zane Graham. Special niece raised in the home, Tammy Gregg; sister Hattie Mae Benjamin; sisters-in-love A noteworthy sister-in-love Mae Francis Rogers, and Gloria Smith, brother-in-love Manson (JoAnn) Rogers and a host of many, many nieces and nephews,           extended family, friends and a foster brother Marion Jr. (Barbara) Gregg of Elliot, SC.
